I looked up a gene on Ensembl (https://useast.ensembl.org/index.html) to get its sequence. It states that the gene is located on the reverse strand. Is the sequence of nucleotide bases given 5' to 3' still when reading left to right?
wherever you look for gene sequence, you'll have the 5'>>>>3' sens, left to right, for both strands when downloading RNA data. on the other hand, regarding genomic sequence, you'll have always the + strand. but just to be sure you can check in the header of the fasta and the sens of the arrow of the gene picture.
