I wish to perform western blot analysis to detect some proteins under hypoxia and normoxia. I cannot use b-actin as my control marker as these levels tend to change under hypoxia. Can anyone please suggest another suitable protein that will not change under hypoxia and can also be used for normoxia samples?
Is a-tubulin any good?
GAPDH is known to upregulate under hypoxia condition. you can use any house keeping proteins or chaperones like hsp90. All the best

Do you mean using a regular staining reagents for the membrane or did you have something specific in mind?

You can use 28S rRNA as control as it remains constant irrespective to hypoxia or normoxia and tends to be a good internal control in comparison to b-actin or GAPDH which tends to fluctuate under hypoxia or normoxia conditions.
