I want to measure the Fv/Fm ratios of drought stressed plants, preferably in the dark before dawn. However our growth chamber is really dark when the lights are of. So I was wondering if there is any kind of light that I could use that I will be able to see, but my plants won't react to?

You don't need a dark room but metal leaf clips that exclude light. RC antennae are extremely sensitive to any kind of light but one hour of dark is sufficient to get max Fv/Fm. Darkened leaves are not sensing if neibhours ones are lightened but in case you may check it by bagging an entire plant with clips inside against a lightened control. Everybody thanks for the answers, since I want to follow my plants over time, and I want to measure complete trays of plants putting them in the dark for an hour will probably mess with the plants a bit to much (Want to measure 3x a week for 3 weeks).
I asked around some more and was told that using a green light will not activate any photosynthesis machinery in my plants, while I'll still be able to see what I'm doing. This seems like the cheapest, easiest and least invasive way to get around it.
