I would like to know your experience/opinion about working with tungsten and nichrome wires to make tetrodes for chronic electrode implants. Which one is the best and why? Assuming they have the same insulation and diameter?
I've heard that some people skip the gold plating stage for tungsten wires, have you done this?

We used nichrome electrodes for multi unit and the most important deference between tungstan and nichrome electrodes were nichrome electrodes solderable.
We developed a new printed board circuit (PCB) microdrive. And we used for this a connector plate also PCB. The soldering method has given us much more better connection than friction fit connection. If You wanst to read more about i'll send You our articel.
