Can I determine the Borneol in HPLC UV detector? I need to determinate the concentration of borneo and bornyl acetate into a natural essential oil of rosemary. The bornyl acetate absorbs to 290-225 nm but the borneol absorbs anything.
I work in HPLC reverse phase with UV detector, up 50:50 to 20:80 H3PO4 0,1% / acetonitrile gradient .

The ideal way to assay 'essential oil' mono- and sesqui terpenes is capillary GC- MS. Reverse Phase HPLC is not the appropriate technique. With highly non-polar compounds like borneol and bornyl acetate, normal phase silica-HPLC is a better option.
Regarding the wavelength for detection: As these compounds do not have strong chromophores, the ideal wavelength should be ~ 210 nm which is used to detect 'end absorption'

Yes. I know that the GC-MS is better as HPLC but, in this moment I havent it.
