Does anyone know the volume of a HEK293 cell? I'm also looking for the volume of the nucleus. My literature searches (mostly through BioNumbers) have turned up a range of HeLa cell volumes (940-5000 femtoliters) and nuclear volumes (220-690 fL), some COS-7 cell volumes (2000-2500 fL), but nothing on HEK293. I know HeLa are bigger than HEK293, but by how much? Are their nuclei also bigger?
If you know of any published measurements, that would be excellent, but I'll settle for rough estimates if that's all I can get.

HEK293 have huge nuclei, approx. 2/3 of HEK293 cell is a nucleus. Mostly HEK293 are round-ish (while HeLa-s are elongated), with a diameter of around 15-20micrometers.

I've seen posters ranging from 3000-5000 um^3 (would have to calculate that into femtoliters though).

Thanks Danijela! That's the most conclusive answer I've seen anywhere. Is this from personal experience or do you have sources?
Hi James, we have ran HEK293 through our automated cell counter (Vi-Cell XR) and which gives the average diameter of the cells. They come out as being in the region of 14.5-15 microns (i.e.: .one run = 14.6 second run = 14.7 third = 14.9, rounded diameter).
