Hi. If you merge the elements of a finite element model, you will have a single component with of course the removal of all contacts ready to manage them, if you want to have an accurate results you should manage the contacts according to the connection type.
I think thats parapet-slab rigid connection, and we have the nodes.
Merging nodes on a finite element model (for instance, N2 merge with N1) means that you replace the N2 DOFs by the N1 DOFs in the system équations : the interaction from the N2 DOF are reported to the N1 node, and the displacements of the N2 node are strictly the same as N1 displacements.
