To what extent can we decrease the dimensions of particles so that solid-solid phase transition can be detected? Not only by XRD, but also by DSC, IR, NMR... In other words what is the smallest particle dimension so that the solid-solid transformation can take place or can be observed? Or is there some minimal dimmension below which solid-solid transformation cannot take place?
I do not think dimension is the most important parameter to be considered in solid-solid transformation, rather the thermodynamic relationships between the two solid forms

as Adeyinka Aina point out, any phase transformation will be related to its thermodynamic prinnciple . for example if you consider the solid particles its starts with particulates - clusters - grains - crystalline size , etc.., however the nature of the phase of that particular material depends only on its thermodynamic principle rather than other constrains involve in it..
