We are going to prepare specimens of E-glass for tensile test. What is the standard of tensile test of E-glass according to ASTM?. I found out that for Kevlar 49 fabric, it is ASTM D5039. Is this correct for E-glass?
Depending upon the method used, there are differing sample sizes. In some cases, even micro-tensile testing can be done. I would recommend contacting manufacturers/venders of such testing equipment.
I found out that for hyper elastic materials such as silicone rubber, ASTM standard for preparing tensile test specimen is D638 type IV and for composite materials is D3039 for rectangular shape( E.g. E-glass/epoxy composite ) and D638 for dumbly specimens ( why two standards ???). And for fabrics such as E-glass, it is D5035.
