Hello,

I am trying to isolate endothelial progenitor cells from umbilical cord blood and currently follow the protocol published under the title "An in vivo experimental model for postnatal vasculogenesis. (http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0076687908030139)". Here they use EGM-2 medium without hydrocortisone.

I found a recent patent (http://patents.justia.com/patent/20050266556) in which they carry out a similar isolation but they used complete EGM-2 medium which contains hydrocortisone.

What role does hydrocortisone have in an endothelial progenitor cell isolation or in more generic form, what role does it play in a egm-2 medium?

Thank you for looking into this and would love to hear from you all.
