I am working on the effect of Markstein number and Markstein length definition in the internal combustion engines. Since mathematically they have a direct relationship, both should have similar physical meanings. However, it seems that high Ma number shows instability of the flame and the reverse definition is true for Ma length. I would appreciate it if anybody can clear the physical definition of these two parameters in flame stability, flame stretch, etc. Besides, how is their effect on premixed and diffusion flames.
