What is the preferable method for sample preparation of degraded dye (mixture) samples/metabolites for performing the GC-MS analysis? Most of the available literature is on individual dyes. Could the methods used for individual dyes, be used as well for mixture of dyes (of the same type and class)?

may be you can use 2 solvents at a time, like use ethyl acetate and dichlotomethane separately and then dry it over Na2SO4 or MgSO4 followed drying it in rotary evaporator, then dissolve it in HPLC grade methanol, because the metabolites of all the dyes are not soluble in . ethyl acetate so better to use two solvents depending on the nature of dyes
