Through ebeam GLAD, i was able to deposit titanium nanoparticles at subtrate temperature 260C and room temperature. The issue here is that while analysing the morphologies of the nanoparticles through some SEM micrographs, some of the nanoparticles sure some branching on the sides especially at substrate temperature at 260C were its more pronounced. Ive attached the micrograph below. Through XRD and HRTEM, ive analysed that the nanocolumns grow in a Bi-axial (1010)[0001] growth. Also in the micrograph, the flux direction is coming from the top of the micrograph.

What are the possible mechanisms other than Diffusion and Shadowing effect that could possibly explain the growth of this structures.
