I don't have that data on hand but every year our School of Education at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine enroll over 130 students in the Diploma in Education programme for teaching at the secondary level.

In the USA they all have to be certified to teach at K-12 level. At the University level, there is no such requirement.
90% have licenciatures and 68% with at least a bachelor degree.

In India, to teach in government funded colleges, teachers should pass National Eligibility Test (NET) or must have Ph.D.
Similar qualifying exams are there for school teachers.
Those with teaching certification are not much, about 40%. The education ministry is now making it compulsory for all teachers in public institutions to upgrade themselves with a course in education so as to be certified as professional teachers. Its a great initiative.

In the university, here in Nigeria, teaching qualification is not a major prerequisite for teaching.
All teachers in UK MUST be certified and subject to completing a PGCHE degree to qualify.
In Bulgaria all teachers in secondary level must at least master degree usually in pedagogy on the subject they teach; for tertiary degree - PhD in the area - of course, it you can additionally graduate pedagogy course but it is not necessary.
For example, I have PhD in Operations management - thus, I can teach in BG universities in this area or connected to it, i.e. SCM, CRM, PM, etc. I have also a pedagogy certificate from the secondary school that helps me very much.
What I see (especially among my young colleagues) is that they underestimate the pedagogy in tertiary education. Some of them are good scientists but bad teachers.
