We are starting a new project in the lab concerning Angiogenesis co culture. If anyone would be kind as to describe the best medium recipe (RPMI, DMEM...) for optimal ECV growth.
I am guessing that the ECVs is referred to endothelial cell (corneal endothelia?) based on the word "Angiogenesis" in your description as I am not familiar with the abbreviation of ECVs. In our lab, we have been using EGM-2mv from Lonza for culturing endothelial cell. This media is supplemented with multiple growth factors such as VEGF, EGF, HGF, IGFBP-2, Ascorbic acid and hydrocortisone for optimum cell growth. The specific concentration for each compound is not revealed so it will be hard for you to formulate the media yourself. Alternatively, Millipore has a range of products called EndoGro media products for different endothelial cell culture. Based on the feedback from my labmate, this media works well for his endothelial cell culture. Millipore does reveal the formulation of their media and you may follow their recipe if you intend to make the media yourself rather than purchase it from a vendor.
You can refer to the formulation from the link below: http://www.millipore.com/userguides.nsf/a73664f9f981af8c852569b9005b4eee/4ac1f439e8ccff278525756900639310/$FILE/EndoGRO-LS%20Complete%20Media%20Kit.pdf
