Docetaxel that acts by disrupting the microtubular network in cells. This network is essential for mitotic and interphase cellular functions. It binds to free tubulin and promotes the assembly of tubulin into stable microtubules but at the same time inhibits their disassembly. The microtubule bundles formed this way are unable to fulfill their normal function, which leads to the inhibition of mitosis in cells (normal and malignant ones). The main cause of lung cancer is related with environmental carcinogens like those found in tobacco and in the manufacture of cigarrettes.
I just wanted to add that an often-ignored cause of lung cancer is second-hand smoke. So even if a person does not smoke or has never smoked, if he/she lives with somebody who smokes often, then that person can and will get cancer eventually. This happens quite commonly, but most people are still very surprised when hearing about someone being diagnosed with lung cancer but who has never smoked in his/her life. Hope this makes sense.
