The best advice I have for managers - or management students - who wish to inform their own practice with research is to 'trust but verify' their sources. In other words, if they are seeking to use information from a particular article, they should make sure that information has been empirically replicated by the authors, or elsewhere.

If they fail to find replication evidence, which is likely, all is not lost. In that case, they should ask themselves the following questions: "On the face of it, does the information presented in this article make sense?"; "Do the authors present their data clearly?"; and "Are the scales and survey instruments used valid and reliable?"

What advice would you give? Seeking answers from profs in any field. All answers welcomed!
