My steel contains around 97% and 3% retained austenite. However, the error of Rietveld is 3%(- + 2%). How can I decrease this error?
What software are you using, and how did you find this information? I am not familiar with these uncertainties values, but deal with low quantities is sometimes troublesome. In my opinion, these +-2% will lower if you improve your refinement, and I can't tell what you can do without analyzing it.
Keep playing with the parameters like
- Refine Background 1, 2, and 3 parameters
- Peak position correction
- Shape parameters u,v,wu, v, wu,v,w
- Thermal parameters BisoB_{\text{iso}}Biso
- Atomic position refinement
- Occupancy correction
You may have very high background, which may be because of fluorescence, which may indicate you used Cu Kalpha radiation. In this case, your data is highly suspect and the statistical (random) uncertainty indicated by the software is a vast underestimate of your total uncertainty including systematic errors.
