Have you come across the consortium for the barcode of life?
I'm a little unclear on the exact nature of your question. But maybe this small paragraph can help clarify it for you
'DNA barcodes vary among individuals of the same species, but only to a very minor degree. If the DNA barcode region is effective, the minor variation within species will be much smaller than the differences among species'
Barcodes for taxonomic groups and more specifically for species are still being developed, its still in its infancy.
More can be found at: http://barcoding.si.edu/dnabarcoding.htm
Can you please elaborate your query precisely. For which organism you want to know the barcode . Why want to go for primer design since universal barcode primers are there. If you are looking for Insect barcode, please clarify for which insect. As Asif mentioned for many species barcoding s still in infancy. Reply back if you need any explanation further.
The sequences in genebank although are reliable verified, the authenticity about species remains in doubt. here except no other information is verifiable. In case of DNA barcode, the protocol specified for global taxonomic brouser, BOLDsystems.org all information need to be provided, it includes sequence file in format of .fasta, .ab1 and .phd. Also, the specimen details are required for voucher collection, image, name of identifier, taxonomic notes and lot many. Here, a team of taxonomists work along with bioinformatician to reduce the erroneous entries. Multiple way analysis freedom is an additional benifit over NCBI genebank.
Thanx for your valuable answers.Yes Mr Asif I agree to ur point. My interest is in field of Medicine.May i know Mr Subash is their any such Barcode availability for Mycobacteria? thanx Mr Khedkar
