Bacterial and fungal identification capacity in clinical diagnostics, under assumption that blood culture is positive (in 60% cases of sepsis that is the case). Can it detect all? 500? 1000? please add references if possible, THX!!!
The total number of described bacterial species is (in any case) very low, on the order of 10,000 (104) or ten thousand (a recent list of taxonomically approved names lists 13.537 bacterial names). Cultivable/ "culturable" numbers in standard clinical setting is only 60-70% of positives from standard definition of infectious sepsis cases (100%))...hope we close the gap soon. Thanks again...
