I think publication

The best way to quantify research efficiency should first be started with publications. Publications not only enhances knowledge but also gives a way to project ourselves the best.

To quantify one's research efficiency, all above-mentioned things can help..... Don't run after citations and all these things, work rigorously, honestly to learn, create and disseminate knowledge that can help improve lives of all living beings and improve condition of planet Earth.

All inclusive but publication is always the foundation since it turns out to be an everlasting legacy to have knowledge shared and documented or jotted for generations to come amd build upon. One may leave this earth but our publications would still keep us alive as a means of contribution to scientific knowledge

Publication

Publication is key measure to quantify our research output. Further parameters are Citations, Patents and Technology Transfer.

Those talking about citations are making a point but the question is do you publish your papers, research and books for the purpose of citations ?I believe the answer is no . Why do we embark on research works ? Publication of research should be capable of solving local or international issues , a new sense of direction in doing things, enhancing knowledge of readers and learners , having postive impact on societies. Publications should not be about your personal gains or benefits only .

Publications are by far the most important method by which one can quantify the efficiency of one's research. Many assume that publication is the writers' way of exposing themselves to an expectant world. In this way, they become prone to criticism which is is an invaluable capital for academic progress. As the wise adage goes, a scholar has no option but to either " Publish or perish".

I think publication is the one

1. Quantitative research may be justified by consistency of publications

2. Qualitative research with respect to citation, Impact factor

3. Without Quantitative research Qualitative goal may not be achieved

4. Relativety in question & involvement in numerous academic activities strengthen Quantitative research

5. Explicit penetration towards innovation may secured Qualitative research

Research becomes science only when it is published . Researcher can control the number ( quantity ) of publications , but quality depends on other researchers , who read & cite it . It is the duty of the researcher to make his publications available in various research websites for others to access it . RG has made an attempt to evaluate individual research contributions by introducing Total Research Interest ( TRI ) by utilizing citations , reads & recommendations .Other factors such as awards , personal satisfaction , success stories etc are difficult to quantify , but they would improve the morale of the researcher , if the institutes in which they are working recognize their contributions to research & encourage others to take research as a career .
