I'm quite used to larger samples, or sending frozen extracts on dry ice, but this time we need to ship some freeze-dried DNA. If I use my normal technique to cover large samples (tissue + elastic band) I fear I might loose a large fraction of the DNA. Any pointers or suggestions much appreciated.

I like this. Challenges will include: a) detaching any DNA that gets attached, and b) avoiding contamination of sample with bits of membrane.
On top of this, 0.45 might be too fine - leading to rupture / failure on vacuum. I will try an 'empty run' first. Leads to another question:
What is the most suitable material to avoid attachment of DNA?: A negatively charged membrane / mesh?
