I am working on induction of cancer stem cell like properties in MCF 7 cells. Can anybody help me with suggesting which would be a suitable marker for this identification of breast cancer stem cells? i have seen its usually CD24+ and 44- cells that have cancer stem-like cell properties. But is there a highly specific marker? What would you suggest me to buy for characterization?

Like Tamara indicated the best thing to do is use multiple markers, additionally use a side population assay to complement the marker results.
If you are assessing stem like properties, it is possible that stem cell markers won't necessarily be altered. Keep that in mind, but it is definitely something to check. While it is trendy to call these traits stem cell traits, many of these traits have also just been called cancer traits. Both CD44 and integrin alpha6 (CD49F high) are both stem cell markers and both convene traits that contribute to cancer progression. MCF7 cells have low to moderate CD49F levels, so stimulating stem cell traits could change this level as well as CD44. These are two markers to add to the CD44, CD24, CD133 list, as you will need to investigate several markers and properties to make the claim of altering stem cell properties.

For Breast cancer I would suggest try EPCAM+/CD44high/CD24low based flow-sorting.
