Hi Ricardo, If you can take the samples from the field to the lab quickly, I would recommend lyophilization. Otherwise, to preserve the samples for weeks in the field, x2 CTAB is good. Hope this helps. Cheers, József
Josef Geml is probably right that CTAB is best. However, be careful how much root material there is per vial. If it is too much, the water in the roots will dilute the CTAB. If you have to put a significant amount of root material in a vial, you might do better with a higher concentration.
Thanks a lot for the answers. Indeed Jean, I have to be careful to the amount of roots per vial and I will try to process the material as soon as possible after arriving from the field.
