Surgical plume or smoke are produced by use of electrocautery, laser and high energy devices during surgery. They may contain toxic materials including bacteria, virus and viable cancer cells. Inhalation of these fine particles may spread diseases to surgeons and other health care workers. It is still controversial. But it is a real possibility. Are there any definite evidence available? Any one can explain or provide any evidence.

The potentially carcinogenic components of surgical smoke are sufficiently small to be respirable, moreover, Infective and malignant cells are found in the smoke plume, but the full risk of this to the theater staff is unproven. Instead of that,
It's better to protect your self despite the fact that the plume could be harmful or not. For instance, My father always uses Surgical Smoke Evacuator to avoid any proven or unproven undesirable effect.
