With mouse and rat, from 1 mg of brain you should be able to get about 0.5 ug of total RNA and 1 mg of ovarian tissue you should be able to get about 2.5 ug of total RNA. miRNA should make up 1 - 2 % of this. I assume that it will be similar with avian tissue.
