The term hemodiafiltration is referred to dialysis plus hemofiltration but how about internal HDF?
It is a bicarbonate hemodialysis that utilizes a filter design which increase passive filtration increasing dialysis efficiency. It improves the removal of small molecules and stops the continuous increase of middle molecules as seen in low-flux bicarbonate dialysis.

HD with internal hemodiafiltration means that HD using the dialyzer contains backfiltration.
Near all commercial high flux syntheticmembrane dialyzers contain internal hemodiafiltration.You can check membrane character-- water permeability-- KUF. Some company extened the dialyzer length to augment internal hemodiafiltration.

In principle, iHDF works just as high-flux hemodialysis but requires the convective dose to be clinically relevant

Just the same as the indication of high flux dialyzer ---augment convection for removing middle molecule uremia toxin such as beta-2 microglobulin.
However, it also carry the risk of thrombosis (dialyzer blood clot) and possible backfiltration of endotoxin the dialyzer because of high flux and backfiltration. You can use the filter (in the dialysate solution outlet) to remove endotoxin.
