What is easiest and less time consuming method for cyanobacteria isolation?
water samples are first diluted and streaked into the BBM or BG12 or BG 11 media solidified with 1.8% agar ,mean while sample are inoculated into the broth of the above mentioned media.After week of incubation times under continuous day and dark night cycle of illumination colonies of isolated cyanobacteria will grow on the agar plate.Isolated colonies of cyanobacteria are picked and inoculated into the fresh medium.

What you can also do is keep the phosphate levels very high in BBM or BG medium as cyanobacteria rapidly bloom in low N/P medium
