For secretion of recombinant protein in pichia pastoris, the most useful secretion signal is alpha-factor secretion signal from S. cerevisiae .

In some vectors( e.g. pPICZalpha A, Invitrogen) this secretion signal is in complete form (85aa). but in some cases, just first 19aa(presequence) is used for secretion of recombinant protein.

what are differences between these truncated and complete form of secretion signal?is there any advantage to use truncated form?
