I am new to using mice, and I would like recommendations for specifically staining most, if not all macrophage subsets in murine tissues, particularly in lymph nodes and spleen. My background is in NHPs so I have used CD68 in the past. Is there a good analog to this in mice?

The most commonly used pan-macrophage marker in mice is F4/80 (Cell signaling technology, F4/80 (D2S9R) XP® Rabbit mAb #70076; https://www.cellsignal.com/products/primary-antibodies/f4-80-d2s9r-xp-rabbit-mab/70076) or a anti-mouse CD68 (CST CD68 (E3O7V) Rabbit mAb #97778; https://www.cellsignal.com/products/primary-antibodies/cd68-e3o7v-rabbit-mab/97778?site-search-type=Products&N=4294956287&Ntt=cd68&fromPage=plp).
We have good experiences with these two antibodies and they appear to detect the same or a similar cell population on mouse FFPE tissues. In contrast to basically all other F4/80 and CD68 antibodies we tried, these two are the only ones that worked reliably to detect tissue macrophages.
