This is the modal number of chromosomes per metaphase; indicating a near diploid karyotype in the majority of the cells. The rest of the metaphases are probably polyploid; this is frequently seen in cell lines, which have been cultivated for a long time.
Thanks Sabine! Shouldn't we be more interested in the modal number at 46 then? Or does one always go for the number in majority (the further away from 46 the lower the cell line's quality)? I would prefer the percentage at 46. What would be best?
Hi, all I'm very interested in this post because I'm purchasing a cell line that's hyperdiploid, modal number 56-58. Does that make it very hard to do a knock-in to it?
