It's widely accepted that discussions about nature and science carry great significance. Imparting this knowledge goes beyond mere duty; it's a moral obligation. Thus, we must enlighten everyone about the nuances of the natural world and the rich tapestry of cultures.
I think it's essential for researchers to communicate our research to non-specialists, so people can understand more about the consequences of their own decisions in life based on accurate and critical information. That's why it must be a very responsible and appropriate type of scientific communication. The overall should also be done using a variety of scientific opinions from life sciences disciplines.
I believe it is and important component of science field to spread the knowledge that is constantly coming from every researh field to general public. We should aim to knock down the bounderies so everyone actually knows the reason why research is importante and undertand the value of it. Also it would would encourages people to do science also, no matter who they are or where they come from.
Thanks for your response. Your perspective is very deep and from a point of view where people is completely responsable of itself and its environment. In
Colombia legally the biologists have a law about scientific communication:
1. Publish work's results with responsibility and objectivity.
2. Promote the diffusion and the avance of science for society benefits.
In my country for legal reasons our duty is only publish and share. However visit communities and to do intensive divulgation is up to each professional and its personal opinion about it. For me, is really valuable when science can reach to general public and accomplish a minds change and consequently in their acts.
I've recently submitted my thesis and have yet to earn the title of Dr. Getting back to the matter at hand, thank you for elucidating the Colombian legal perspective on biologists' communicative responsibilities. Whilst the law sets out the fundamentals, I'm aligned with your view that the genuine worth of science is in its universal accessibility. Advancing science beyond academic papers and into communities is crucial for impactful societal transformation. It's praiseworthy that you regard this not merely as a professional obligation but as a personal dedication.
Thank you very much for your comments. They have broadened my vision on the matter and I am sure that this will contribute to my performance as a biologist.
In the strictest sense, scientific communication primarily represents the culmination of collaborative or individual efforts, often regarded as a duty upon the completion of a project. However, I firmly believe that the dissemination of scientific research should transcend this duty and be made accessible to a wider audience. Furthermore, it is imperative to ensure that this knowledge can reach every corner of society. Recognizing that universal accessibility can be challenging, this is where outreach initiatives emerge, not merely as an obligation, but as an invaluable opportunity.
