I am modeling a finite element bridge on ANSYS APDL (attached below), and after meshing I am getting these different colors (purple and blue) for my FEM bridge model.
I do not know what they mean or wether they affect the results or not.
the slab and parapet are both modeled as shell elements. when i view them as shell elements they show these two color.
but when i go to plot control -> style -> size and shape -> display element ON,, i get no colors. only blue one as attached below. Ahmed Mahmood Abdullah Daabo
Yes of course, chosen element type is not fitted with that specific section (with different colour) in geometry.
The idea behind the sizing is to reduce the element size, in order to cover all the geometry .
By doing this, you succeed in making all the geometry meshed, however, you increased the number of elements which will increase the computational cost and at the same time affect the solution accuracy.
You can compare the two methods to see the difference in the element number after meshing the geometry.
