This may be a dumb question but I'm very new to research. I have identified primers from a paper (has reverse and forward sequence), and my supervisor is waiting on me to order. I'm just not sure what to actually give them. Any help is appreciated. Happy to clarify anything as well. Thanks for your help in advance.
Just give the sequence 5'to 3' making sure the ends are clearly marked as 5' and 3' of each primer.( the 5' ends are at the ends of the pcr amplimer and the 3'ends are inside the amplimer) If these are for simple end point pcrs then specify desalted as the method of purification and ask for the lowest synthesis amount which will be good for thousands of pcr reactions. Desalted primers are fine for sample screening but if your project involves cloning and expression of pcr product then you will have to use a higher standard of purification like HPLC or gel purification (PAGE)

Wouldn't it be more logical/practical to discuss it with your supervisor rather than asking help here. If you can't ask questions or clear your doubt, what is the use of supervisor then?

As Abhijeet Singh mentioned, you should clearly discuss these things with your supervisor and come to a conclusion. That is how it should actually work. By the way, you must have the primer name and its correct 5' to 3' sequence. I hope you will find this information in the paper you read.
