One of the most novel molecular techniques is CRISPR. I have heard that it is being widely spread among molecular biologists and can significantly shorten time needed to conduct research (eg. building animal models). Additionally, the use of CRISPR has recently been able to open an interesting debate in top ranking journals about editing even human germline. Mycorrhizal ecology has wisdom a revolution due to advances in molecular techniques. That is why such a technique called my attention and I wonder what the likely potential of CRISPR can be for my current research area (mycorrhizal ecology) in the next future.
