As AI and Internet of Things have disrupted the workplace any research in this context or HR Analytics will be more useful as it will add to the existing body of knowledge.
There is plenty of research and body of knowledge in this area.
I suggest Read John P Kotter's work on Change Mnagement including his handy story book "Our Iceberg is melting".
Is a good area of research but you need to narrow down topic. For example- change in which functional area or structure or technology etc. Organization wide change is culture change.
Also read good OD books for a detailed and clear approach to your research topic. Suggested Book on OD by French and Bell and also work of Warren Bisnis for OD info.
OD and Change go hand in hand. You would be able to establish sound theortical base for your research objectives and direction.
The thing about “change management” is right there in the question...its about “change,” which is inherent and continues to multi-directionally affect organizations. There is a multitude of potential work to be done in this area, especially with the emergence of millennial managers, post-millennial employees, emerging technologies, Industry 4.0, contract-driven employment, Wounded Warrior hiring, changes is national and global benefits structures, integration of neuroscience in studying workplace behavior, etc...etc...etc... it is absolutely feasible!
the real truth is, change management is applying new innovation in management studies , may be scientific methodology especially in work place . you can agree with me that human resource management deal with computer application. so new topics can be workplace practices with the aids of information technology
In my opinion, significant aspects of modern HRM are the marketing of recruitment, employer brand management and employee value proposition, social recruitment, data-driven recruiting and HR analytics, Collaborative hiring, Employee referrals, talent sourcing, candidate relationship management, inbound recruiting. The above is in the context of understanding change as the only constant in today's world and taking into account the rapid technological development.
As per me, in HRM, the Power of People in facilitation and managing change, new-age collaboration in Recruitment & Selection, managing & building Teams are some current and significant topics to research in HRM.
