In tissue culture, I often see cells transforming due to unknown reasons even after taking precautions. More often seen during the seasonal changes. What are the possible ways of preventing contamination in cells. Is there any antibiotic regimen which stops this?

It seems you have either continuously contamination which you may control it by using different antibiotic(s) and change the media with short time, or a sensitive cell line to get mutation, so it is better to store cells in liquid nitrogen after FIRST passage and use them whenever you doubt about contamination.

Successful cell culture depends on keeping the cells free from contamination by microorganisms .Aseptic techniques should be followed to provide a barrier between microorganisms and sterile cell culture.
