According to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data (attached PDF file) the following jobs are among the 10 deadliest jobs in USA: 1. Logging workers, 2. Fishers and related fishing workers, 3. Aircraft pilots and flight engineers, 4. Roofers, 5. Refuse and recyclable material collectors, 6. Mining machine operators, 7. Driver/sales workers and truck drivers, 8. Farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers, 9. Electrical power-line installers and repairers, 10. Construction laborers.
Their list seems as a joke! Accordingly, military jobs are safe in America? What about firefighters, health care provider, dentists, ...? Many dangerous jobs involve exposure to toxic substances that cause death and disability over time. I don't know how they get their information but it is far from reality. Are these statistics similar to your place? or you think there are other jobs most dangerous? What is your opinion?

I believe that the most dangerous occupation is being alive...
Whatever the job, there are safety rules to apply, in the prevention of accidents and/or diseases. When you obbey those rules, you usually get lower risks.
Please forgive my humouristic answer, but I believe I am giving you the right answer.
Risks are to be prevented.
In Iran, road traffic accidents are considered to be the second highest cause of mortality. So over here, drivers have the most dangerous occupation.

In all countries, we can find many dangerous occupation. For this the Work in security and prevention of accidents are necessary. So, We must obey and apply all safety rules.
I question the accuracy of the picture being portrayed by lumping-together pilots and "flight engineers" in one category for the United States (and possibly also for Canada, although I will acknowledge the increased risk for pilots flying in winter-weather of Canada, and in the U. S. state of Alaska). I believe this may be giving a false idea of the danger of flight or of pilot's profession being much-more-dangerous than in actuality, because of adding-in the more risky positions of mostly ground-based (where most fatal accidents occur) personnel like "flight engineers" (and perhaps, there are even some other fatal accidents of ground-based maintenance personnel, like mechanics, who are being wrongly called "flight engineers" that falsely increase this statistic ?).
If (professional) pilots were separated-out as an independent category, then it certainly would not appear on this "top ten" list ... and possibly not even on the top one-hundred list of "deadliest" professions for the United States.

I don't think in the USA any statistics about the military are given out to the public.
There are also many many deaths from legal/illegal use of guns and shooting by police and other agents.
The number of traffic deaths are not going down in spite of laws against drunk drivers, etc

As you know, we either face car-bombs, kidnapping, killing in a cold blood, etc etc . All this due to the newly imported DEMOCRACY!!!
Therefore all occupations or professions are dangerous in my country at the moment!!!!
To be more precise. In Syria, the most dangerous "occupations" is to be a soldier in the Syrian army.
In the second place, to be a governmental employee(it doesn't matter what kind of work or occupation), because the Syrian opposition (all of them) targeted all governmental employees. Actually they do bombed schools, hospitals, universities ... even mosques and churches.

Think 1 of the most dangerous jobs in Malaysia is jobs related to high altitude e.g. high rise building construction workers, cleaners, air-conditioner installer (see this YouTube clip below) etc. as accidents do happen occasionally. In Pakistan Security services are most risky job, but on the other hand general public is always at risk due to terrorist activities.
In my country, nearly all jobs are risky simply because life here is surrounded by unpredictability , volatility , and instabilty . We have never ever lived a normal life for a single year. I really wish that no news come from here because (No news are good news) !
I think the 10 jobs I posted are not the deadliest jobs, but they may be regarded as the riskiest jobs. with safety plans put in place even the deadliest jobs become a lot less deadly.
In fact, every job (scientists included!) has their own risks some are just more dangerous than others. For instance, the lab worker is one of the most dangerous jobs [1] in science is also one of the most humdrum.

To me it was a bit strange at first to see farmers near the top of your list for fatalities even they might be the very bottom for pay! When I searched further in the Internet I realized your list may be true. According to the International Labour Organization (attached link), more than half of the 335,000 workplace fatalities around the globe occur in agriculture, making farming one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.
