I am working on the sorbitol production by fermentation. So after the end of the each optimisation step, I need to analyse the Sorbitol, for that the ONLY available method to quantification is HPLC.
Are there any other methods are available which can be use for the quantification of sorbitol after the end of the fermentation ?

If you have GC-MS facility then sorbitol can quantify easily after methylation by iodomethane.
I assume the reason you do not want to do HPLC is the sample clean up. That is something you are going to have to do regardless of whether you use a GC or an HPLC.
I have a good exprience to analyze Sorbitol in atmospheric aerosol extracts by ion chromatography with electrochemical detection (HPAE-PAD). Method by Iinuma et al., 2009.
HPLC-CAD using HILIC-mode chromatography can be used to determine sorbitol directly. Sample should be diluted in acetonitrile to the point where everything is still soluble. Conditions can be found here:
