What are the functions of free calcium in the nucleus and nuclei as a regulation factor for transcription? How does it work? Has somebody done projects related to Ca in the nucleus?

Well, I am actually currently working in a calcium binding protein named DREAM, which is a calcium regulated transcriptional repressor. It is so far, the only one to regulate gene expression in a calcium dependent manner by directly binding to DNA. You can view my profile for some papers.
Also, calmodulin has been shown to translocate to the nucleous upon increase in cytosolic calcium. Inside the nucleous CaM can regulate CREB processes.

@Dear Raghavendra, I read this article but I am looking to function of calcium in the general concept in all cells and in this article that you link (and it is really interesting) they studied only Neurons.
