I used AMR in the past for a comparison of different tools to describe a multiphase flow with an implicit surface description. Which are the issues you encountered?

Mesh Refinement is a technique that employing to enhance the simulation of fluid flow and heat transfer in multiphase flow or fluid flow near the wall...etc. its philosophy depending to get the real behavior of fluid flow,

We have tried AMR for multiphase flow with phase-field in the past. Usually, refinement is dependent on the phase-field parameter and you can control the number of refinements in a given time scale of simulations.
