thanks for posting this important technical question which is certainly of broad general interest to many other RG members as well who work in the field of MOFs. First of all, there is a vast body of literature about the synthesis of MOFs available, even right here on RG. Thus it is always a good idea to check the "Publications" section of RG for terms like "titanium MOFs" or "MOF synthesis". You will be surprised to see how many interesting and relevant articles have been posted by RG members, including a large number of freely accessible public full texts. As you certainly know, most MOFs are prepared through hydrothermal syntheses. If you are new in this field, I would suggest that you first try to repeat a published synthesis in order to get acquainted with the methodology.

Dear Ipek,

I am not a expert in TiMOFs, but there are some general suggestions that may work on your job.

1. Acidity. Try to add different types of acid to prevent hydrolysis of Ti4+. It depends on your reaction system.

2. Cluster formation. An interesting fact is that like ZrMOFs, TiMOFs often require pre-formed oxoclusters as metal sources. Some of them become the SBUs in MOFs, and some of them may change in the final structures of MOFs.

3. Some other general issues: solvent, time, temperature, volume of vials...
