There are several free and open-source operations research software options that are suitable for undergraduate courses. Here are two to which I am familiar:

1. GNU Linear Programming Kit (GLPK): GLPK is a package for solving linear programming (LP) and mixed-integer programming (MIP) problems. It is free and open-source and is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.

2. OpenSolver: OpenSolver is an Excel add-in for solving optimization problems. It can be used for linear programming, mixed-integer programming, and nonlinear programming problems. It is free and open-source and is available for Windows and Mac OS.

These software options are all free and have active user communities, which can be helpful for students learning operations research.

There are several free software options available for teaching operations research to undergraduate students. Here are a few suggestions:

PuLP: PuLP is an open-source linear programming package for Python. It is easy to learn and use, and can solve a wide range of optimization problems. It is also well-documented, with lots of examples and tutorials available online.

CBC: CBC (Coin-or branch and cut) is an open-source linear programming solver that can be used with a variety of modeling languages, including PuLP, AMPL, and GAMS. It is fast and efficient and can handle both linear and integer programming problems.

GLPK: GLPK (GNU Linear Programming Kit) is another open-source linear programming solver. It includes a modeling language called GMPL (GNU Math Programming Language), which is similar to AMPL. It can handle linear, integer, and mixed-integer programming problems.

SageMath: SageMath is an open-source mathematics software system that includes a wide range of mathematical tools, including optimization solvers. It is based on Python and includes interfaces to several linear and integer programming solvers, including CBC and GLPK.

OpenSolver: OpenSolver is an open-source Excel add-in for linear and integer programming. It is easy to install and use, and can solve problems with up to 10,000 variables and constraints.

These are just a few examples of the many free software options available for teaching operations research to undergraduate students. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it's worth trying out a few to see which one works best for your particular needs.
