It is a nice example to illustrate the Hume Rothery rules to consider the miscibility in solid state in the systems Cu-Ag, Ag-Au, Au-Cu. Cu-Ag shows the largest difference in "atomic size" of the three system, and there we find limited soluibility (or a critical point above the melting point).
