Has anyone experience of using expired sepharose resin. I have got resin expired 10 years ago but was stored properly at 4 C. Any suggestions or recommendations
I agree that the resin is very stable at 4°C. I used un-opened DEAE-sepharose after 15 years of storage and it worked. However, I never compared it with a fresh batch. I suggest not to wash in 70% ethanol for long time, as the resin could swell (usually with ethanol higher than 30%) and damage your ligand. Mold seems to be a problem, as it likes the suggary beads. For some resins, sodium azide can be used as a preservative.
