Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) has been widely recognized to be associated with endophytes and especially fungal species.
I am wondering if there are nettle leaves without any endophytic colonization?

Have you found clean nettle leaves outdoor or in controlled climate conditions? It was found several times on different crops (mostly cereals) that virus infection "cleaning" plant leaves of fungi and bacteria at early stage of infection (before necrotic lesions).

In nature there is no such thing as aseptic environment. The natural plants grow with a vibrant endophytic community. Plants which do not have this community are the result of laboratory conditions.
No such thing in natur we removed endophytes by washing befor drying process and environment diversity controls types and quantities of endophytic organisms

Yes I know, that is well found for other species such Arabidopsis that hosts endophytes depending on the time of the year as well as the progress of its life cycle...but I do not know if it is the case for nettle..
The endophytic microflora is responsive to both phenology and the environmental conditions when the microflora community is determined it can be used as a forensic for ascertaining the phenological and environmental conditions.
