I am reproducing iron oxide nanoparticles from "Ultra-Large-Scale Syntheses of Monodisperse Nanocrystals." hyun et. al

in this process nanoparticles were made from iron oleate complex with solvent 1-octadecene at 320 degree.

I succeeded made nanoparticles but failed washing process.

as mentioned in papaer, after reaction, I put excess ethanol in to reaction mixture. and centrifuge and put under high vacuum for an hour.

but even they were under high vacuum for long time, some viscous liquid remained in nanoparticles.

so i tried to wash it with ethylacete or ethanol and dried.

and i found particles didn't be dispersed anymore in nonpolar solvent(hexane, chloroform), which were dispersed well before drying.

I really want to know what is the reason why i failed to dry particles.

please let me know about "washing process" in paper"Ultra-Large-Scale Syntheses of Monodisperse Nanocrystals" if you have experience.

thanks very much
