the medicines in the pharmacy are fully chemicals which causes side effects when used for long time or used in high dosage level. So turning towards nature i.e using of herbal medicines doesnt have any side effects. The new generations are eagerly concentrating on chemicals, synthetics etc...... To show the value of herbals the phytochemical of any herbals shall be included in your conference. It will be very useful for many youngsters......

Regarding side effect, I am not sure how many scientist/researchers will agree that herbal do not have side effect, some time we have not test side effect of these medicines using international standards (clinical trials). This question is debatable .

Dear Kavitha, I am agreeing to your suggestion of herbal medicines but is a bit confused about the side effect factor. As far as a chemical is concerned we know what its composition is and can make out what causes the adverse reaction, but in traditional herbal medicines such as ayurveda, the treatments are done by using a crude mixture of plants which as you know has a lot of chemicals in the form of primary and secondary metabolites. So, what is the possibility that these plant derived chemicals wont give any side effects and if they do we wont be able to analyze the key factor behind the reaction as there is no idea about the chemical combination.

Shyam, you are right. The composition of herbal medicine is complicated and may cause side effect. Hence, the most important thing is to figure out the key and useful part in crude mixture of plants. I believe that will be hopeful and useful in future pharmacy.

India has become a dumping ground and trial field for various pharmaceuticals like antibiotics and most of us are using these frequently without any precution.Cant we make some effective law ?

I think homeopathic medicines can have an important role as it can also change genetic effects .But one problem regarding this is that ,there were not had any deep studies about its side effects.

Nazmin, I have strong belief that these drugs have lot of potential. My question is why we are are not doing study in depth. Is it funding problem or researchers are not interested or experts wants to maintain their monopoly. Another question is documentation of knowledge in form of databases is not available to public.

Secondly I Wanted to know that I have recently joined for PhD, and so do not have paper on my name. Am I eligible to present a poster or do oral presentation?

Aditya, It is unfortunate we claim without number of proof and no agency is controlling these claims. Publication is not condition to present poster, submit your abstract our committee will examine its suitability.

You need to pay before submitting abstract, as we are only considering abstract of registered participants. In case participants is not interested to participate in conference when their abstract rejected, we return registration fee.

Most of them says that herbals has side effects but there is many purification process i available and many techniques is there. I think it is possible to overcome this problem. Nothing is impossible in this scientific world

I feel everybody is advocating the herbal medicines but till date the research made in the field of herbal medicines is not reached to that extent where we were able to release any commercial product from it. however couple of studies are made to commercialize the product but fact is that propaganda companies are misusing the research in selling their products and one example I noticed in this discussion also where Aditya Parekh has given one web address, besides being researcher and earning our research degrees, publishing papers it also our duty to make people aware to be cautious of this propaganda.

Secondly I wish to know that anyone who is working in the computational drug discovery specially for herbal drugs. If somebody knows someone plz let me know.

Ms. Kavitha has mentioned about the safety of herbal medicines. Its true as far as herbal medicines are also tested similar to synthetic chemicals as drugs. But such stringent testing for quality control of herbal medicines are lacking in our country. It is high time we realize that herbal medicines, though they are effective for various therapy, should also be evaluated scientifically so that they don't cause safety and efficacy problems on long term usage. Inclusion of topics related to evaluation of safety of herbal medicines in this conference would be highly appreciated.

As a microbiologists, i am giving s suggestion for the medicines or treatment using microbes, especially the extremophiles that mean the microbes in the extreme conditions like ice, deep oceans etc. because new compounds are available in these microbes. May be it wound a thought provoking thing for the young researchers ..... kindly please analyse it.
