A recent interesting paper discussed the association between sex and obesity with cancer risk(.Adiposity and sex-specific cancer riskJune2023Cancer Cell 41(6):1186-1197.e4 ). I noticed a very intriguing phenotype in the results. For bladder cancer, the significant correlation between increased BMI and Cancer risk is only indicated in males. While for females, there is no association between obesity and cancer risk. This proposed a hypothesis that the pro motive effect of overloaded fat and obesity and related factors may be dependent on androgen pathways or other male-related signatures. More analysis and experiments are required to address this issue.
