Hi, I am currently working on chitosan nanoparticles synthesis by ionic gelation method. I dissolve chitosan in 1% acetic acid (to make a solution of 1mg/ml, pH:5). Is it necessary to maintain any specific pH (acidic/basic) of the STPP (cross linker)??

The formation of nanoparticles in the presence of STPP is immediate in an acidic chitosan solution, just as it is possible to obtain particles of varying sizes by playing on different parameters such as the chitosan concentration or the chitosan/STPP ratio.
